Oh, MBTA, you gave it a good fight, I’ll give you that.

What with only 2 of my 6 buses being on time (by human reckoning anyway—I know in T-World they were all on time)...

Making me 20 minutes late for work...(Here’s a fun tidbit: it took an hour and fifty minutes to get from my apartment in Allston to my job in Medford—that happens to be the exact amount of time it takes me to walk from Allston to Medford. How bad does a transit system have to be if they can’t best a short, fat old lady’s walking time?)

The combined hour and forty minutes of commuting time I spent waiting in the cold...

The idiot 86 driver who lurched to a stop at Sullivan inch-by-inch while my connecting bus pulled out just in front of us...

And my favorite—the CT2 driver who pulled up to his berth 15 minutes early yet didn’t let people board until it was time to leave despite wind chills in the teens. Truly a man “driven by customer service.”

An impressive effort—even by your (sub)standards.

But it was all for naught.

Because when I—finally—made it home there were Red Sox tickets in my mailbox!!!!!

And thus, the forces of good carried the day.
