Apparently, I have to leave the room in order for J.D. Drew to do anything useful. This does not bode well for our future together.

Can’t believe A-Rod didn’t come. What a wuss.

Something the Roommate and I were wondering about as they showed the D-Mat/Okajima/Matsui dog and pony show for the Japanese press corps...Is schlepping around the U.S. after a ballplayer considered a prestigious assignment that Japanese journalists would aspire to? Or is it more of a pay-your-dues kind of job where after you’ve served your time they’ll send you to one of those war/plague/natural disaster zones where you’re more likely to score the Japanese equivalent of a Pulitzer and beaucoup honor for the family? Do the young journos get excited (Ooh! Ooh! Me, Mr. Kotter!) when a new ballplayer breaks in the West...or do they hide under their desks hoping the teacher won’t call on them? Are they really as adoring as they seem? Or do they swim in the same bitter cesspool of two-faced hackery as their U.S. counterparts?

All of a sudden I am insanely curious about these folks.
